This series chronicles the immigration of Ethiopian Jews to Israel, from Project Moses in 1984 to today, told through the voices of the community itself. It follows three generations, highlighting how the perilous journey and the reception in Israel deeply shaped their lives.
Parents and older youth recall life in Ethiopia, the journey, and early struggles in Israel. The youngest generation, born in Israel and raised to assimilate, distanced themselves from Ethiopian identity. Now adults and parents, many have reclaimed their roots, blending Ethiopian and Israeli identities. They’ve also become leaders in community protests.
In Ethiopian culture, personal trauma is rarely discussed, and family conversations often avoid emotional topics. This silence—rooted in fear, cultural norms, and the desire to protect one another—has left many questions unspoken.
Through seven families, the series captures honest intergenerational dialogues, breaking long-held silences. Created by Ethiopian filmmakers, it offers an intimate, authentic view of the community’s journey, struggles, and evolving identity.
